The scramble crossing is a sea of costumes. Witches, zombies, a hundred cheap oni masks with plastic horns. Then every phone in the crossing dies at once.
Under Shinjuku, the stone that sealed the land of the dead rolls aside, and the god who moves it is the one who put it there. Down Meiji-dōri comes a parade nobody booked: paper lanterns, drums, a hundred demons walking in step and a thousand more behind them.
The crowd films it. Nobody notices the new horns.
